University At Albany Gets a Veterans Club (finally).

The University At Albany seemed to be slacking when it came to their veteran students...until now! Tomorrow veterans will meet at 4pm, in the Commuter Lounge. The lounge is past the "Copies Plus" office in Campus Center. This will be our first meeting and all are welcomed to attend. Please spread the word, stop by and say hello! Hopefully, this club will lead to more veteran awareness on campus!

Right around the time that my junior college is about to shut theirs down (no participation, that is, all them veterans have jobs and no time to sit around and hang out).

Hi GI Kate,

There is a very important movie at Proctors, November 11, 2009 called the Good Soldier. It is a movie which honors veterans by allowing them to speak candidly and truthfully about their combat experiences. There are two showings 5 PM and 7 PM with a veterans panel after 7PM and questions and answers.
This is a very powerful, evocative movie. Proctors has lowered the price to just $4.00 for veterans, students and seniors also. I hope folks from SUNY Albany might attend. Given that about half of all veterans recently seperating from the military have ptsd or other mental health concerns, while we may have different opinions on the wars, what clearly is known is the adverse effect of combat experience on veterans and their families. This movie will be previewed on Bill Moyer's journal on November 6, 2009. For more information see
